It had been over a decade since our last flood. This year we finally received large amounts of rain in a short time frame, so the ponds flooded and the streams were full of water.
The vernal ponds I built the last couple years did not fair well. Too much water can go through them and the pipes I put in them could not handle all that water.
This vernal pond is in the uplands and only had minor damage to its dam.
A gully keeps getting larger on our place. Someday I hope to flood that ditch and have a pond there.
