Deep Reflections

This vernal pool has kept water in it all year. With all the rains, the depth has consistently been 6 feet deep.

Island Meeting

The Canadian Geese have gathered for a meeting on my island. This is the reason I like islands on my ponds.

Old Ponds Renewed

There is three ponds on this property that were cattle ponds.  Now that the cattle are gone and drought has made conditions good for digging, we hired a trackhoe and bulldozer to dig out these filled-in ponds.   The work went fast and was less than 2 days they were here.

New Island

Vernal Pools Snowmelt

Back Too Soon

Heart Pond

The cattle have been hard at work. Do to their pushing in dirt from various angles, they have created a pond that appears with a heart shape. It really is their work of love.

Cattle Pond

It seems like every time I look at our ponds, I see chocolate milk.  A craving comes upon me for that sugary touch added to the goat milk I drink.   But something amidst is going on here… The cattle have been causing erosion to this pond for decades.  Currently the pond is only a couple […]
