Asian and North American

My Asian and American species of Sumac are growing in close proximity of each other. The American species, Smooth and Staghorn, have excellent, reddish fall color.   The Chinese Sumac is a greenish-yellow.

Pioneer Sumac

Sumac is claiming a lot of ground on my Oasis.  These suckering trees work good for afforestation. They color up nicely in fall, too.

Sumac Future

Little Staghorn Sumac trees are spreading and adding more wildlife habitat and food source. Birds gobble up the seeds and help plant new trees.

Simultaneous Sumac Flowering and Fruiting

Staghorn Sumac is currently fruiting while the Smooth Sumac is only flowering right now. These two species are in the Rhus genus.

Tiger Eyes Sumac

Tiger Eyes Sumac is a cutleaf and golden cultivar of the Staghorn Sumac(Rhus typhina). In a green landscape, this plant practically glows and is very showy.
