Red Elderberry

Red Elderberry is a new species I have added to the Oasis. I have also tried the Blue Elderberry, which has struggled in my climate.  The native Iowa one that grows everywhere is the American Elderberry.

Chinese Prickly Ash

This shrub is closely related to the native Prickly Ash. The different species in the genus have compound leaves and thorny stems.

Salt Cedar Flowers

Asian Pears of Iowa

Standouts

In a routinely green forest, the White Poplars standout. These Poplar trees are fast growing and competed well with the surrounding trees.
